Dr. Yuhui Wang enjoys a multifaceted career in the Vancouver music scene as a vocalist, Chinese culture and art song scholar, and music educator.  In 2019, he served as the understudy for the role of the Owl in Vancouver Opera’s world premiere, The Flight of the Hummingbird and made his public debut in Vancouver as Escamillo in Carmen. In 2022, he performed the role of Uncle Toy in City Opera Vancouver’s world premiere, Chinatown. With UBC Opera, his performances include Herr Fluth in Merry Wives of Windsor; Beaupertuis in Il Cappello di paglia di Firenze; the Count in Le nozze di Figaro; Dandini in La Cenerentola; Barone in Il viaggio a Reims; Harlequin in Ariadne auf Naxos; Daperttuto in Les Contes d’Hoffmann; Secret Police Agent in The Consul; Horstmayer in Silent Night; Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream; and De Brétigny in Manon. He has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of Theatre J. K. Tyl in the Czech Republic, the Sichuan Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Minzu University Orchestra in China.
