Trudy Chalmers, Member - Board of Directors

Vancouver-born soprano Trudy Chalmers divides her time between producing operas and concerts, arts and academic administration, and teaching singing. Trudy is the founding artistic director of Opera Lirica (formerly Opera Opulenza), and is the vice president of Burnaby Lyric Opera. She has a passion for community engagement and leads a community opera chorus, opera related workshops for seniors, opera camps for kids, and salon socials. Trudy majored in voice at Capilano University. With Opera Opulenza she produced and directed Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana in 2016 and Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the York Theatre in 2017 and with City Opera Vancouver she produced Poulenc’s opera The Human Voice in 2021, Jake Heggie’s opera At the Statue of Venus in 2021, and Madeleine Thien, Alice Ping Yee Ho and Paul Yee’s opera Chinatown in 2022. Trudy also produces a free outdoor summer concert series at Oak Park.
