Bass Jason Somerville is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music majoring in Opera at UBC. After joining the chorus of Edmonton Opera (Turandot, Cenerentola, Les Feluettes, Don Giovanni, La Traviata & Rigoletto) he went on to perform in Pop Goes the Opera’s production of Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi as Betto. Since then, he has portrayed an array of characters with the UBC Opera Ensemble including Don Alhambra (The Gondoliers,) Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro,) Nonancourt (Il cappello di paglia di Firenze), Dr. Cajus (Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor), and Jezevec/Farář (Příhody lišky Bystroušky). Most recently, Jason was seen in City Opera Vancouver’s Canadian premiere of Missy Mazzoli’s Song from the Uproar
