Jason Cook, Baritone

Gianni Schicchi / Tonio

Born-and-raised Vancouverite Jason Cook, most recently seen with Burnaby Lyric Opera in productions of Il barbiere di Siviglia, Carmen and La bohème, is described as having a “warm, enveloping baritone” by Opera Canada. Since his humble beginnings in the Vancouver Opera children’s chorus, the UBC School of Music graduate has had the privilege of performing across Canada, Europe and China in a variety of musical styles and languages.

Other recent credits include Marco in Gianni Schicchi (Pacific Opera Victoria); Marcello in La bohème (Opera Nanaimo); King Melchior in Amahl and the Night Visitors and Robin Starveling in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Vancouver Opera). Following the world première of East Van Opera’s Beauty’s Beast, Schmopera noted that “vocally, [he] is a force of nature… and is positively breathtaking”. Off the stage, Jason works for a tech startup, is a proud music teacher and an avid West Coast kayaker.
