Praised for his “stoic, manly sound” (Schmopera), baritone Andrey Andreychik is an avid performer who brings passion to an extensive range of operatic repertoire. Currently based in Germany, Andrey is a member of the Ensemble at Theater für Niedersachsen and recently debuted as title role in Nabucco with F. X. Šalda Theater and Ibn-Hakia (Iolanta) with Theater Bad Elster. Recent Canadian appearances include Scarpia in Mississauga Symphony Orchestra’s Tosca, Boyar Shaklovity & Vladimir Galitsky in the Canadian premieres of Khovanshchina & Prince Igor respectively with Toronto Opera in Concert, and the Bass soloist in the Vancouver Bach Choir’s Messiah. Andrey received his operatic training at the University of British Columbia, and has since performed the title roles in Eugene Onegin, Gianni Schicchi & Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Marcello and Schaunard (La bohème), Alfio (Cavalleria Rusticana), and Escamillo (Carmen), to name a few. He is thrilled to be back at home to perform with Burnaby Lyric Opera.
